Judging of Entries
JudgingThere will be 2 stages for the judging of entries to the Inspired IT Awards in 2008. The Review Board (stage 1) will comprise of 8 CIO's or Senior IT Executives from a range of industries across the Island of Ireland and they will select a short list of projects for recognition in each of the 8 Industry categories and also recommend a short list for 4 Cross Industry awards including Overall IT Project of the year.

The Final Selection Committee (Stage 2) of CEO's will choose the Cross Industry award winners from the recommended shortlist that best demonstate the business Value of IT.

Dermot O’Connell

General Manager, DELL Ireland.

In his role as General Manager of Dell Ireland, Dermot O’Connell has responsibility for managing and developing all of Dell Ireland’s Global, Corporate and Public Sector Sales and Marketing operations. Dermot is a member of the Dell Ireland Senior Management Team and is responsible for sales and marketing teams based in Dublin, Limerick and Belfast. With the company since 1993, Dermot has held a number of senior roles within the business both in Ireland and the UK. Most recently he was Head of Solutions and Services for Dell Ireland where he was responsible for Dell’s Professional Services, Pre-Sales and Complex Project Delivery teams.  

 

Oisin Byrne - iReach

Oisin Byrne

Managing Director -iReach

Oisin has held a number of senior management roles with the worlds leading IT Vendors including positions as Divisional Director of Computer Associates, Country Manager of IBM Ireland Software Business and most recently General Manager of Gartner Ireland. He has 20 years experience in the ICT Industry since joining IBM Ireland in 1985 and since then has held positions with Reuters, the worlds leading provider of information to the financial services industry and Kindle Banking Systems, one of Ireland first international Software success stories.  He holds a Bsc degree in Business and Information Systems from Trinity College Dublin. Oisin established Next Utility Limited in July 2003 and launched iReach in 2004.

Mark Kellett

CEO - Magnet Networks

Mark Kellett has held the position of CEO for Magnet Networks since November 2007. Previous to his appointment Kellett was Group Finance Director for Yahoo! Europe where he served from 2004 to 2006 as a member of the European Executive Board and Chairman of the Irish Board of Directors, providing organisational leadership to a worldwide finance and operations team. A key achievement at Yahoo! was the establishment of the European Shared Services Centre and securing the necessary IDA funding. Kellett is a keen sportsman and was part of the first Irish Expedition to Mount Everest in 1993, reaching a height of 6,400 metres. This expedition saw Dawson Stelfox become the first Irish man to reach the summit.

Karen Forte - Judge for Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical

CIO -Allianz

Karen Forte, CIO at Allianz Ireland for the past 9 years has been involved in IT in Insurance for over 28 years. Working as a consultant for 8 years and moving to line management for the balance. She currently manages a team of c70 staff in Dublin and has a team in India that helps with Software development. She was made a fellow of the ICS in 2004 and was the Inaugural President of AIM Ireland in 2003 and was a Board member up to May 2006.

Seamus Doyle

Seamus Doyle - Judge for Government

CIO for BT Ireland

Seamus has worked for BT for 25 years and has been responsible for the successful delivery of a wide range of major IT Programme for the BT Group worldwide. His most recent successes include the launch of BT Broadband in 2003 which has now become a multi-billion product line for BT and he lead the development of the systems to support BT Fusion the innovative product which provides converged services for customers over Broadband and GSM.

Seamus holds a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering and a MSc in Computer Science from Queen's University, Belfast, where he researched embedded operating systems for telecommunications industry.

Michael Martin - Judge for Retail, Distribution and Logistics

Head of IT - IIB Bank

Michael Martin is the Head of IT in IIB Bank, part of the KBC Group which is one of the world's top 50 banks. Michael has over 20 years experience in IT. Prior to taking up his current role, Michael held management positions with DMR Consulting and Aer Lingus. He has also worked in the insurance industry in the UK. Michael holds a BE degree from NUI Galway and an MBA from DCU Business School.

 

Deirdre Mooney - Judge for Health and Education

Efficient Business Consulting

Deirdre has recently set up her own Management Consulting business that inspires client companies to follow the “path to greatness” by using various areas of business management to increase growth, mainly by focusing on the benefits to be gained from both people and technology development.

Deirdre was Head of IT & Business Planning in Gallaher Ireland for over 9 years and spent some 11 years as head of Group IT in the Allegro group. Deirdre lead many IT projects that delivered measurable business benefits.

Clodagh O'Donnell

Clodagh O'Donnell - Judge for Financial Services

Group CIO - RTE

Clodagh O'Donnell is Group Head of IT in RTE. Prior to joining RTE earlier this year, Clodagh held senior roles in many of the leading IT consulting organisations in Ireland and the UK, including IBM, Logica CMG and PA Consulting Group. In 2002 Clodagh was appointed by An Taoiseach to the Information Society Commission where she chaired the eBusiness Working Group.

Clodagh holds a Bachelors Degree in Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Design. She is a past President of the Institute of Business Analysts and Consultants.

Peter Shields

Peter Shields - Judge for Technology, Media and Telecoms

Since graduating in Maths and Computer Science from Queens University Belfast, Peter Shields has over 24 years experience of all disciplines within the software industry. In 1999, he established his own software development company (EG Information Consulting Limited) which now employs over 25 staff at our offices in Belfast, servicing clients around Ireland but also as far away as Poland, Germany and London.

Pat Rowan

Pat Rowan - Judge for Business Services

IT Director - C&C Group plc

Pat Rowan is IT Director with C&C Group and has over 25 years experience in IT, primarily in the FMCG/CPG sectors. Prior to C&C, he worked for 7 years in management consulting roles with KPMG/Bearing Point, and previously with Statoil, and Best Foods.

Pat joined C&C in 1993 as IT Manager and was appointed IT  Director in 1997. Pat holds a BSc in Chemistry and Maths and a Postgraduate Diploma in IT, and is a member of the ICS and AIM Ireland forums. 

Tim Willoughby - Judge for Hospitality, Travel and Transport

Head of Research & Development - LGCSB

Tim has been working in the Public service for 17 years with an excellent record in a number of engineering, technology and ICT roles. Through this period he has been innovating, sourcing and marketing eGovernment solutions within Local and Central Government.

From his early days as a computer teacher through the Engineering profession in Kildare County Council and on to his current role in Senior management in LGCSB he has consistently shown a flair for computation within the business arena and he has a passion for technology, particularly to understand and harness it for use in government. Tim is currently responsible for Research and Development in the LGCSB and represents Irish Local Authorities on a number of cross government and cross business committees.
